Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has been the long-time sponsor of the Boilermaker Corporate Cup and will continue in that capacity as well
November 29, 2017 (Utica, NY) - The Boilermaker Road Race conducted a press conference on Wednesday morning at race headquarters to make a few exciting announcements and revelations regarding the 2018 running.
First, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield was introduced as the first ever Presenting Sponsor of the 15K race. Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has been the long-time sponsor of the Boilermaker Corporate Cup and will continue in that capacity as well.
“As the area’s largest health insurer, the decision to forge an even stronger partnership with our region’s largest and most celebrated health and wellness-related event was a no-brainer,” said Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Regional President, Eve Van de Wal. “The missions of our organizations are so perfectly aligned. Both are proudly locally based and invested in the health and well-being of our communities, from a physical and mental standpoint as well as an economic one.”
Then the 2018 logo was revealed to the public for the first time. Since 1993, the Boilermaker has redesigned a logo unique to each year in addition to its corporate logo. The 2018 logo was designed by Boilermaker intern, Ben Keeler.
“The logo design process is an exciting challenge each year and we are very pleased with the 2018 design that Ben created.” said Boilermaker Marketing Specialist, Jordan Peters. “Similar to 2017, the 2018 logo is a classic throwback to our corporate logo featuring the Boilermaker colors and a new take on the Running Man figure.”
In addition, race officials took the opportunity to announce the immediate availability of Boilermaker merchandise featuring the new 2018 logo, for sale online. An in-person sale will also take place on December 8th and 9th from 10am to 5pm at race headquarters, located at 805 Court Street in Utica.
Boilermaker Race Director, Jim Stasaitis, also announced 2018 registration information.
