Former GO! St. Louis Vice President of Operations Brings Wealth of Industry Experience to Role
WICHITA, Kan. - Running USA, the national non-profit trade organization for running events and businesses, is excited to announce the hiring of Brian Lyons as the organization’s Director of Membership. In this role, Lyons will oversee Running USA’s member management, benefits, outreach and year-round engagement.
Beginning his work with GO! St. Louis as a volunteer in 2006, Lyons quickly moved into an assistant race director role with the organization. In 2008, he was promoted to race director, taking over lead duties of managing the organization’s marquee races, including the GO! St. Louis Marathon. In 2016, Lyons was again promoted to Vice President of Race Operations.
“We’re extremely excited to have someone of Brian’s caliber joining our team,” said Rich Harshbarger, Running USA CEO. “Brian has an incredible grasp of the industry, brings an understanding of what race directors need and will certainly help our organization grow and bring even more value to our members.”
Lyons has played a major role in the strategic growth of GO! St. Louis over the past decade, taking the organization from a single-weekend of events to producing the GO! St. Louis’ portfolio of four major events in the St. Louis area.
His experience in business and race development, in addition to overseeing race staffing, logistics and other key directing duties, gives Lyons a deep understanding of the needs of race directors and the value Running USA can bring them as members.
