Chapter Seventeen MAIL-IN REGISTRATION TIPS
Return to Race
Manual Table of Contents
- Verify that a check or money order has been
sent with the entry form and that the dollar amount is correct for the
entry requested.
- Make sure that all required information has
been provided: first and last names, sex and age. Address (necessary for
computerization of entrants, mailing of results to finishers and mailing
of trophies not picked up after the race) and T-shirt size.
- Other information that can be helpful: day and evening telephone
numbers, date of birth, and best or predicted time for the
distance. (If an entrant has failed to provide any of the three vital pieces
of information (name, sex or age), he or she should be called so that
the bib tag can be filled out completely. If the person cannot be
reached by phone, attach the entry from to the incomplete bib number
with a note that the missing information must be provided by the entrant
before the bib number can be picked up.)
- Verify that the entrant has signed and dated the waiver/agreement
releasing the sponsors and race organizers from liability. Entry forms
with altered waivers should not be accepted. Return them with the check
or money order attached. (If the waiver has not been signed, attach
the entry form to the completed bib number. The entrant will have to
sign the agreement before the bib number can be given out. If a person
refuses to sign the waiver, return his money and inform him that he may
not run in the race.)
- Alphabetize the bib numbers for easier
distribution at packet pickup on race day.
- Arrange all entry forms in bib number sequence for easy reference in
the scoring area (in case a tag appears with missing
information).
