Known as “the greatest half in history,” the event is located halfway between the nation’s capital and the capital of Virginia

QUANTICO, Va. (January 12, 2018) Starting Wednesday, January 17, at noon, runners can begin registering for the Marine Corps Historic Half, Semper 5ive, or Devil Dog Double taking place on Sunday, May 20, in Fredericksburg, VA. Each distance event will scale Hospital Hill, the 200-foot incline at Mary Washington Healthcare.

Participants looking for the best price for the Historic Half should register early as the event will feature on-demand pricing. The lowest registration fee is available at $70 for the first 2,500 entries. The next 3,000 entries will cost $80 and the final 1,500 entries will be $95.

Known as “the greatest half in history,” the event is located halfway between the nation’s capital and the capital of Virginia. Perfectly situated in the heart of Civil War territory, the event offers participants a glimpse of historic battlefields and monuments along the 13.1 mile course.

The Semper 5ive costs $40 and offers runners the opportunity to be part of Historic Half weekend festivities in the shorter, family-friendly five-mile event. Participants in this event will start in beautiful downtown Fredericksburg and cross the same finish line as Historic Half participants.

The wildly popular Devil Dog Double returns in 2018. Registration is $85 for this unique challenge that combines both the Semper 5ive and Historic Half distances. The Double will start at 6:40 a.m. Participants must complete the first five miles by 7:30 a.m. This extends the maximum pace-per-mile for the first five miles to ten minutes, a ten percent increase over last year’s debut time limit.

“Adding an additional five minutes to the Semper 5ive portion of the Devil Dog Double will allow more runners to charge Hospital Hill twice, reinforcing their commitment to health and wellness,” says MCM Director Rick Nealis.
