'MARATHONS' TELEVISION SERIES: A SUCCESS IN THE UNITED STATES AND ABROAD
Program Expands Television Distribution Partners

Marathons, a monthly television series dedicated to the coverage of major marathons and road race events from around the world, has expanded its television distribution reach to 70 million households in over 75 countries.

The only series of its kind, Marathons was launched in January 2002 to meet the demand for a program that provides a comprehensive overview of the sport of road racing.

"It's indicative of the sport's popularity, the series has been so enthusiastically accepted, that over a short period of time, the program has broadcast partners spanning six continents," explains Ambrose Salmini, President of Salmini Films, the show's producer.

Marathons is now distributed throughout the Fox Sports International network, with outlets throughout Central and South America, Europe, Africa, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand. Each episode of Marathons receives multiple airs on all of Fox's international outlets.

In the United States, Marathons is now carried by both Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Espanol. "Now, events in the U.S. can be showcased to a national and international audience. Sponsors, race directors and athletes alike have been extremely responsive to the series," adds Salmini.

Jody Cleveland, Executive Producer of Marathons, forecasts the series' broadcast reach to over 100 million households and 100 countries by the Fall 2002. "The growth of the sport has been astronomical. Today, there are hundreds of major running events around the world, with millions of dollars in prize money. However, until this series, there was no serious outlet to showcase the sport and the elite athletes," explains Cleveland.

Salmini adds, "It's been rewarding to know the series has been picked up in countries from Russia to Brazil, from Mexico to Morocco. Plus, the U.S. broadcast on Fox Sports World, in both English and Spanish, elevates the sport to a new level. Marathoning is now a major league sport, and we produce a series that treats it that way."

For information on Marathons contact Ambrose Salmini, Jody Cleveland or Rick Penque at Salmini Films at (201) 944-5572. A complete broadcast schedule for all of Salmini Films programming is available on sportfilm.com.

Salmini Films also produces Running, broadcast on the MSG Network and Finish Line, broadcast on various Fox Sports outlets around the country.

She will be appearing on behalf of her sponsor, ASICS TIGER Corporation, and will be available for autographs and photos at the ASICS(r) booth.

Drossin, a former California state champion while at Agoura High School, has become one of the world's best distance runners. Big Sur Marathon Announces Recipients of Grants

CARMEL, Calif. - (September 17, 2002) - The Big Sur International Marathon will be awarding over $160,000 in grants to over 90 local non profit agencies and organizations. The awards will be presented at a reception to be held on Thursday, September 19 at Rocky Point Restaurant on Highway 1 at 6:00 pm.

"This award money, which represents the highest ever given by the Big Sur Marathon is due solely to our generous sponsors, supporters and the community which has enabled this event to become the success that it is," remarked Hugo Ferlito, Chairman of the Board of Directors. "Thanks to the enthusiasm of all those involved, this event has grown exponentially over the past few years and we suspect that is will not take us much longer to double the amount of grant money that we will be able to give back to such worthy organizations."

"These are also the organizations that allow the entire weekend to happen as they provide the scores of volunteers that allow the event to run so smoothly, " added Wally Kastner, Race Director.

Race weekend 2003 is already well underway. Registration for the marathon and related events opened on September 1. "As anticipated," commented Kastner, "the marathon is already half-way sold out with a sell-out probably due to occur in the next two weeks."

The 18th annual presentation of the Big Sur International Marathon, a Running USA Founding Member, is set for Sunday, April 27 at 7:00 am. All proceeds from the event will be distributed to nonprofit organizations throughout Monterey County. Over the past 16 years, over $900,000 has been distributed to local charities.
