Fox Cities Marathon in Top 25 U.S. Marathon Finisher Medals
APPLETON, Wis. – Marathon & Beyond Magazine (May / June 2010 issue) has named the Community First Fox Cities Marathon presented by Kimberly-Clark as one of the top 25 U.S. marathon finisher medals. A panel of eleven marathon veterans from different regions of the United States looked at many medals and submitted their favorites for consideration, before deciding on the top 25.
The Community First Fox Cities Marathon presented by Kimberly-Clark started a seven medal series in 2007, which features a different city each year that the Marathon runs through. The cities featured to date have been Neenah, Menasha, and Kaukauna. For the race’s 20th annual event, organizers announced that the featured city will be Appleton. The race has a rich history in Appleton, with the first Finish Line being in downtown Appleton. The race has run through Appleton each year of the event.
Race organizers are inviting the public to give ideas on the image that will be featured on this year’s medal. In the medal series, the images featured have been the Lighthouse at Kimberly Point in Neenah, Smith Park in Menasha, and the U.S. Dam in Kaukauna. The image should represent the city and can be a landmark that the course goes past, but is not mandatory requirement.
The Community First Fox Cities Marathon presented by Kimberly-Clark provides a healthy weekend of five running and walking events for any age or ability. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the event has donated over a quarter million dollars to area non-profit organizations in the past 10 years through race proceeds and charity partnerships.
