Research will be premiered at 19th Running USA Industry Conference in Denver on Feb. 13

DENVER (Jan. 6, 2023) – Running is facing a potential crisis due to Gen Z attitudes on fitness. The Gen Z report conducted by Running USA, in partnership with USA Track and Field, World Athletics, reveals important insights about the potential future of the running event industry.

The results of the research will be premiered on February 13, 2023 to attendees of the 2023 Running USA Industry Conference in Denver.

“We’re granting early access to these research results to our guests at the Industry Conference, and look forward to the reveal of top takeaways from the research by survey leader Derrick Feldmann on Monday morning,” said Christine Bowen, COO of Running USA.

A limited-time, reduced rate offering to the Gen Z and Young Millennial Attitudes Towards Running report will be provided to Industry participants only on February 13-15th only.  This conference-only offering is as follows:

  • Running USA Foundation and Contributing Members will receive the report for free
  • Event/Vendor Level members will receive a 60% discount
  • Non-Running USA members will receive a 20% discount

Those not attending the conference will be able to purchase the report at RunningUSA.org on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Conducted by Influence|SG, a leading social issue and movement market research and advisory firm, more than 3,500 Gen Z and Young Millennial respondents were asked about motivation to participate in recreational sports and events, how they learn about events and why or why not they participate in events.

“Unlike Gen X and Boomers, who were interested in running to remain fit and healthy, Gen Z is different. For them, exercise isn’t about fitness, it’s about fun and purpose,” said Feldmann, Managing Director of INFLUENCE|SG.
