RRD Partners with the 500 Festival to Provide Fulfillment Services for the First-Ever Virtual OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K

 

Chicago, IL – RRD (RR Donnelley & Sons), a leading global provider of multichannel solutions for marketing and business communications, has partnered with the 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization providing life-enriching events and programs that celebrate the spirit and legacy of the Indianapolis 500®, to handle the kitting and fulfillment of finisher packets for the inaugural Virtual OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K.

Due to COVID-19, the 44th annual Indy Mini half marathon and its associated race weekend events that were scheduled for May 2, 2020, were forced to move to virtual events. As one of the nation’s largest half marathons, with 30,000+ participants and over 8 sub-events, moving the Indy Mini to a virtual format created its own complications. Adding to the complexity, participants in each sub-event were set to receive separate finisher packages and contents along with VIP add-ons. Along with the kitting complexity, the spread of the participant base, which spanned all 50 U.S. states and nearly two dozen different countries, created its own set of hurdles.

By partnering with RRD, the 500 Festival was able to leverage RRD’s vast fulfillment footprint and knowledge base to solve the many operational challenges of moving one of the nation’s largest half marathons to a virtual format on short notice. RRD was able to provide a multi-platform logistics solution that reduced the cost of delivery for the finisher packets by close to 20%.
