Twin Cities In Motion Cancels Hot Dash 5K and 10 Mile Planned for March 21

5000-Participant Minneapolis Event Will Not Be Rescheduled

St. Paul, Minn. – March 13, 2020 – The Hot Dash 5K & 10 Mile, an annual 5000-runner event organized by Twin Cities In Motion scheduled for March 21, has been cancelled due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19. The event will not be rescheduled.

TCM, the nonprofit that also organizes the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and a year-round calendar of events, made the decision with the support of its medical director and in consultation with the Minneapolis Health Department.

“Safety is always our primary concern, and we are making this decision in the best interests of our community,” Twin Cities In Motion president Mike Logan said. “As an organization that loves running and running events, cancelling any event is painful. But it is clearly the right thing to do in light of current public crisis and in the interests of population health."

Registrants will receive a partial credit for their registration fees along with their race medal and participant gear. An appropriate plan for event material distribution will be developed in the coming weeks.

Twin Cities In Motion continues to prepare for the rest of its 2020 event calendar which includes:

  • Medtronic TC 1 Mile (May 7)
  • TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run (May 16)
  • Twin Cities Orthopedics’ Women Run the Cities, presented by PNC Bank (May 17)
  • Red, White & Boom! TC Half Marathon, presented by Summit Brewing Co. (July 4)
  • Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend (Oct 2-4)

TCM will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation with its medical team and public health authorities and update the status of individual events as necessary.
