The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) is a non-profit organization which produces the Boston Marathon and has a mission of promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports, especially running.  Overview of Role                                                                                                                   


The Operations Support Coordinator directly supports the Operations Team by assisting the B.A.A.’s Technical Operations Manager and Director of Operations, and providing additional support to the Operations function for the organization.


 Primary Responsibilities                                                                                                       


·         Support the Technical Operations Manager with the following tasks:

o   Management of the Boston Athletic Association Mobile Application

o   Facilitate contract management for the Medical Contributor Program

o   Facilitate contract management for Course Medical tents

o   Facilitate contract, vendor, and personnel management for the Race Operations Center(s)

o   Facilitate coordination of the Public Safety Meeting Schedule, meeting venues and food and beverage program.

o   Facilitate coordination of the Organizing Committee Schedule, meeting venues and food and beverage program.

 Develop/ refine the mobile check in procedures.

o   Facilitate in the Hotel Management program for all Boston Marathon Events

o   Support in event day communication workflow development

o   Facilitate in development of Standard Operating Procedures

o   Support development of operational tools and technology for use by the Operations team and other B.A.A. teams

·         Support the Director of Operations with meeting & event administration tasks including, but not limited to planning internal Operations meetings, planning & setting agenda for Organizing Committee meetings, communications with external parties related to Boston Marathon and associated event preparations, among other duties as assigned.


·         Support the Distribution Center Manager on event day(s) to expedite race course setup, product distribution, and logistics as assigned by Director of Operations.

 Skills and Qualifications                                                                                                        

·         Bachelor’s degree in event operations, communications, hospitality, or related field, with one to two years’ related work experience preferred; OR minimum of Associate’s degree with two to three years related work experience required.

·         Strong organizational and time management skills

·         Strong written and interpersonal communications, including public speaking

·         Ability to work independently and in a fast- paced environment

·         Demonstrated customer service skills—experience with volunteers preferred

·         The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Salesforce preferred

Physical demands: The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.

    Travel: Limited local travel required.

    Position compensation and benefits: This is a full-time position with benefits that would be based in the Boston office. Though, the organization is currently working remotely and will be practicing a hybrid working model (home & office) beginning in January 2022. The role will also require working some weekends and nights approaching race weeks.
