P3R Corporate Challenge Champion Award

FedEx Ground is a 10-year sponsor of the Pittsburgh Marathon, serving as the title sponsor of the FedEx Ground Marathon Relay and the presenting sponsor of the Corporate Challenge. Hundreds of FedEx employees participate in the Marathon festivities every year, which is why the company has one of the largest employee participation rates in the annual Corporate Challenge.

P3R Corporate Challenge #10YearsRunning Award

DICK’S Sporting Goods has been the title sponsor of the Pittsburgh Marathon for 10 years and has also provided support for other P3R events. The company encourages its associates to participate in the races and has had teams of hundreds of runners each year. Additionally, some of these runners have fundraised thousands of dollars the past two years to benefit the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation and Sports Matter programming to help save youth sports.

P3R Corporate Challenge Lifetime Achievement Award
Ward Strang, executive vice president and chief operating officer of FedEx Ground, serves as the “executive champion” of the company’s Pittsburgh Marathon partnership. In addition to running several races - full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay and 5K - he recently led the effort to renew FedEx Ground’s title partnership of the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay and the Corporate Challenge.

These awards will be presented at the inaugural "Teaming up for a Healthy Workplace" event on Wednesday, May 23 at the Westin Convention Convention Center Hotel. Sponsored by UPMC Health Plan and DICK’S Sporting Goods, the event is a collaboration between P3R and the Pittsburgh Business Times. Tickets are available for purchase at http://bizj.us/1pljfb.

According to Patrice Matamoros, CEO and race director at P3R, “The FedEx Ground Corporate Challenge program was designed to support companies that share our passion for promoting the love of running and enhancing community access to health and fitness education and activities.” Participation in the program provides an opportunity for companies to encourage employee health and wellness, as well as increase employee engagement. In turn, companies will notice happier and more productive employees that become champions of their own wellbeing.
