ZOOMA Women’s Race Series, the first national series of women’s half marathon races, celebrates its 10th anniversary and has revealed a new website and updated look that reflects what it sees as the evolving aesthetic of women’s fitness
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 1, 2017) – ZOOMA Women’s Race Series, the first national series of women’s half marathon races, celebrates its 10th anniversary, and has revealed a new website and updated look that reflects what it sees as the evolving aesthetic of women’s fitness.
Zooma has also announced a new Director of Events and its 2017-2018 race schedule.
Often attributed with explosive growth of running in the “Second Running Boom,” women runners have gone from just over 40% of race finishers ten years ago to well over 60% of finishers in many races today. Within those years, Zooma has grown from one women’s half marathon race in Annapolis, Maryland into a national series and a powerful community, brand and voice for intelligent women runners throughout the U.S. While other series have come and gone, Zooma continues as a thriving community of women runners who seek a balanced life that includes running and will celebrate this important milestone in Annapolis on June 2-3, 2017.
“We are incredibly grateful to our community for a wonderful past 10 years,” said Brae Blackley, Founder and President of Zooma. “This year, we felt ready to update our look and sought to develop an aesthetic that more closely aligns with what we see as an emerging aesthetic in women’s fitness – smarter and more sophisticated – so we can be ready to approach the next decade with style.”
The 2017-2018 ZOOMA race calendar will include Annapolis (June 3, 2017), Cape Cod (October 7, 2017), Florida (October 21, 2017) and Texas (March 10, 2018). Registration is open for all events at www.zoomarun.com.
ZOOMA is also excited to announce that Sarah Ratzlaff will be the Director of Events focusing on Zooma Florida, Zooma Cape Cod and Zooma Texas in 2017-18. Sarah brings with her over ten years in the running industry, most notably with the runDisney series, and is the owner of Be Inspired Events, Inc, an endurance event company in Orlando, Florida. “I’m looking forward to working with the Zooma team,” says Ratzlaff, “and to delivering high quality events that embody the values of Zooma and make for unforgettable weekends.”
Zooma events are known for great swag, which will this year include shirts, hats, bibs and a new medal series including a special Challenge medal for runners who participate in two or ZOOMA races in a year.
Registration for all races is available at www.ZOOMArun.com
