Membership Update FAQ

Prior to 2025, Running USA had not updated its membership tiers or pricing since 2019. In that time, the industry has seen a significant evolution which is reflected in the diversity of Running USA’s membership. The new membership tiers are meant to offer options that better serve running event industry professionals while expanding the benefits offered by Running USA.

Running USA has added new member benefits to all six tiers of membership. Please see the member tier charts for more details. Some examples include:

– Professional services such as human resources, public relations and marketing

– Quarterly group virtual meetings for industry professional groups

– Extended member rates for the Running Industry Conference

– Expanded receptions and meetups at events

– Certification programs

The new membership tiers will take effect on April 1, 2025 and the legacy membership levels will no longer be available for new or renewing members. Since Running USA membership is done on a rolling basis, the legacy membership tiers will remain in effect until the end of each member’s billing cycle. For example, a membership purchased or renewed on March 20, 2025 will not convert to the new membership tiers until March 20, 2026.

The list of new benefits is available here: https://www.runningusa.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Tiers-final.pdf

Memberships will expire or automatically renew (if that option was selected during purchase) one year after an organization initially purchased or renewed the membership.

Prior to your renewal or expiration date, Running USA will contact your designated account administrator to update your membership tier. If no update is made and the account is set for automatic renewal, your membership will automatically renew at the closest associated tier.

Every member will be given ample opportunity to choose the tier to which they upgrade. However, if no choice is made and the membership is set to automatically renew, the following upgrades will be made by the system:

Any additional conference registrations will be at full price. If you would like to add an individual or increase the number of codes you receive, you will need to choose a membership tier that fits your needs.

The Running Industry Conference presented by haku is open to everyone, including non-members of Running USA. Members receive a rate that is less than the advertised registration price. The member rate is based on your membership tier.
