Did you know it takes approximately 50 to 55 million steps to walk around the Earth at the equator? That is roughly 24,900 miles. While Earth Month may have come to a close, at Ashworth Awards, environmental responsibility remains a year-round commitment; one woven into the company’s products, partnerships, and daily operations.
Since its founding in 1965, Ashworth Awards has remained focused on creating recognition products that are built to last while continuously improving sustainability practices across the organization. From the responsible sourcing and recycling of steel and wood products to reducing packaging waste and maintaining ethical supply chain standards, the company views environmental stewardship as an ongoing responsibility rather than a once-a-year initiative.
As Ashworth Awards continues to expand its Dimensional Steel™ product line – from medals, to awards, key chains, pins, charms, and more – company leadership remains dedicated to sustainable manufacturing and sourcing practices. Not only does Ashworth Awards manage the Dimensional Steel™ entirely in-house, but for all product lines and supplies, members of Team Ashworth personally visit partner vendors to ensure ethically sourced labor, environmentally conscious production methods, and long-term accountability throughout the supply chain.
In 2019, Ashworth Awards launched its Dimensional Steel™ product line with the goal of offering a more efficient and recyclable alternative to traditional die-cast medals. Conventional die-cast medals are typically produced by injecting molten metal, most often zinc alloys, into precision molds before undergoing trimming, polishing, plating, and optional enamel color filling processes. The process, while it can be lean, does produce more waste than other methods.
By comparison, the Dimensional Steel™ product line offers unlimited color possibilities while utilizing truly 100% recycled and recyclable materials. Ashworth Awards has also continued expanding sustainability initiatives throughout its shipping and packaging operations. The company states on its website:
“We are committed to no plastic packaging or packing tape for any of our products shipped to our customers. We utilize potato-based biodegradable packing peanuts, paper bags for packaging the medallions, and paper tape and packaging materials to ship all our products.”
For Ashworth Awards, sustainability is not limited to Earth Day or Earth Month; it is a core part of the company’s mission and long-term vision. Through thoughtful product innovation, responsible sourcing, reduced packaging waste, and strong partnerships, Ashworth Awards continues working to help create products, relationships, communities, and an Earth that are meant to last.
