Denver, CO – The Denver Colfax Marathon is proud to celebrate its marathon relay prize pool now surpassing $1.3 million awarded throughout the race’s history. The latest post-race contribution in June marks a twenty-year milestone of the marathon fulfilling its yearly mission of giving back to the Colorado community.

“Giving back to our local community is how we honor our mission and ensure that our impact goes beyond race weekend,” said Andrea Dowdy, CEO of the Denver Colfax Marathon. “We are so proud to keep this tradition alive through the years and contribute to our community’s success.”

The Denver Colfax Marathon has one of the largest marathon relays in the county that features a yearly prize pool. There are 4 divisions: Open, Corporate (employee teams), Government (employee teams) and Public School Teachers (teachers and employees). Winning relay teams designate their prize money to one of the marathon’s local charity partners or to their school. The Denver Colfax Marathon’s one-of-a-kind charity program has yielded over $10 million to local charities through the years.

Close to 28,000 runners participated in the 2026 Denver Colfax Marathon race weekend in May, making it the largest running event in Denver’s history. Registration for the 2027 Denver Colfax Marathon race weekend opens in August at www.runcolfax.org.
