Applications accepted through October 30 for projects across five northern Michigan counties
(TRAVERSE CITY, MI – October 5, 2026) – The Traverse City Track Club (TCTC) is now accepting applications for its 2026 grant program, which provides funding for projects and programs that expand opportunities for running, walking and active lifestyles throughout northern Michigan.
The grant application window is open through October 30, 2026.
TCTC invites organizations serving Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties to apply for funding for projects that create or expand opportunities for people to run, walk and move in their communities.
“We know the impact of running and walking extends far beyond a finish line,” said Lindsay McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Traverse City Track Club. “Through our grant program, we get to invest directly in the organizations, programs and places that make movement more accessible throughout our region, ultimately strengthening our communities.”
Funds available through the TCTC grant program are made possible in large part by the runners, walkers, volunteers, members and supporters who participate in and support Track Club events and programs throughout the year.
TCTC encourages organizations to think creatively about projects that could have a meaningful impact on running and walking in the five-county region. Potential projects may range from programs that introduce children or adults to running and walking to initiatives that improve access, safety, infrastructure or opportunities for physical activity.
Recent grant recipients demonstrate the range of projects the program can support. For example, in 2024 TCTC awarded funding to Forest Area Community Schools to improve and expand its cross country trail, Grand Traverse County Parks & Recreation for enhancements to the Civic Center path, and Kingsley High School Cross Country for team equipment. Together, those projects represent what TCTC hopes its grant program can accomplish: supporting everything from youth participation and school running programs to trails, infrastructure and safer places for entire communities to walk and run.
“We’re always excited to see the ideas that come through the grant process,” McLaughlin said. “Some of the best ways to strengthen our running and walking community begin with people who see a need close to home and have an idea for how to address it. We want organizations throughout our region to know that if they have an idea that could get more people moving, we want to hear about it.”
Applications for the 2026 grant cycle must be submitted by October 30, 2026. Organizations can review eligibility requirements, grant guidelines and application information at tctrackclub.com/grants.
