Additionally, approximately $50,000 raised for charity through the event
With a sold-out field of more than 2,300 participants, the 2025 Mystic Half Marathon & 10K generated economic activity and meaningful contributions to charities in its 10th running on May 18, 2025. Produced by the non-profit Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF), the event brings thousands of runners and spectators to the area.
HMF invests in the community’s single largest annual public safety presence, while also engaging vital professional medical services and race operations staff to ensure quality production.
New this year, the community partner program engaged volunteers and welcomed Child & Family Agency of Southeast CT, Girls on the Run Southeast CT and the John Kelley Memorial Fund as local Official Charity partners to utilize its turnkey fundraising platform, engage supporters and increase awareness. Additionally, fundraising efforts of The Quell Foundation generated support for mental health awareness programming among high risk communities. Charity partners allow for multiple groups to support volunteer needs while providing them the platform to fundraise.
The success of the event also relies on significant volunteer presence to provide on-course support, man water stations, assist with parking and support event services and participants. More than 200 volunteers supported the event, reflecting a variety of community groups, including ARC of Eastern CT, East Lyme High School Girls Lacrosse, Lyme Old Lyme High School Community Service Club, US Coast Guard Academy Cadets and Mohegan Striders Running Club.
“Providing runners the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful areas around Mystic and Stonington is a highlight on our race calendar and we’re happy to provide an economic boost to give back through this popular event,” said Josh Miller, president of the Hartford Marathon Foundation. “Year over year, event satisfaction is extremely high. We’re grateful to the community partners, volunteers and supporters who continue working with us to make this positive experience possible.”
Hartford Marathon Foundation returned to the region on Sunday, June 15, for the L+M Hospital Summer Stride 5K & 10K and has a full schedule of summer events. Learn more at www.HartfordMarathon.com.
