Top U.S. Athletes Will Compete March 2 as Part of Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend
ATLANTA – October 23, 2024 – Atlanta Track Club will host the 2025 USATF Half Marathon Championships as a highlight of Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend on March 1-2, the Club announced today.
The championships, to be run as part of the Publix Atlanta Half Marathon on Sunday, March 2, will serve to help select Team USA for the 2025 World Road Running Championships, set for San Diego, CA, September 26-28. The top three men and women finishers will qualify.
“On March 2, it will be five years almost to the day since Atlanta Track Club hosted the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials as part of the biggest weekend of road racing the city has ever seen,” said Rich Kenah, CEO. “The people of Running City USA came out to support the Olympic Marathon Trials in astonishing numbers; this time, they can run right along with the athletes who are vying for a chance to represent their country.”
The field of professional athletes will be competing for a first-place prize of $20,000 for both men and women, topping a championships-only purse of at least $110,000.
To qualify with a guaranteed entry into the USATF Half Marathon Championships, athletes must have run the following times between September 1, 2023, and February 3, 2025:
10,000 meters: 28:20 (men), 32:40 (women)
