June 21, 2023 – NORFOLK, VIRGINIA – The damp weather couldn’t dampen the spirit or energy of over 130 local businesses and 2,500 participants at the ADP Corporate 5K presented by Bon Secours. Upon completion of the race, coworkers were all invited to the post-race outdoor office party, where they were encouraged to celebrate their accomplishments with their colleagues, live music, catered food, and beer.

“This race is such a unique and wonderful race to plan and carry out. Local businesses big and small unite for a day of health and wellness and it really emphasizes the meaning of teamwork.”  said Jerry Frostick, co-owner of J&A Racing.  This community is so lucky to have dedicated business leaders that value their employees and make it important for them to embrace camaraderie and encourage health and wellness. This race is just the beginning for many and every year we look forward to seeing return businesses and new ones join us at the starting line.”

Title sponsor ADP exclaimed “The joy we have for this race is unmatched and to see our employees and employees from other companies show up and show their company pride all while promoting the importance of health in the workplace is something so powerful and something that ADP is so proud to be involved with.”

Nicole Zukowski of Valkyrie Enterprises said, “The opportunity to get out of the office, stretch our legs for 3 miles, network and really get to know the people we work with in such a fun atmosphere says a lot about the event and the people I get to work for.”

Konnor Rafferty of Virginia Beach, Virginia, won the ADP Corporate 5K with a finish time of 17:22. The winner of the 5K on the women’s side was Jessica Smith from Portsmouth, Virginia. She broke the tape in 18:54.

Unique to this event is the Boss Challenge, which allows local decision makers to toe the line.  Alex McDaniel of Crenshaw, Ware & Martin, PLC, won the title of First Place Male Boss at the ADP Corporate 5K (who also won the title back in 2022) – with a finish time of 21:30. The winner of the Female Boss category of the 5K was Kelda Stephan of ADP. She broke the tape in 22:20. ADP also took home the prize for the largest team with 193 team members!
