Flint, MI – The 48th edition of the HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races brought tens of thousands of runners, walkers, spectators, volunteers, and community members to downtown Flint August 21-23.

Preliminary counts show the event hosted 10,185 athletes who entered into 10,641 events. Events included the historic 10-mile, 5-mile, 5K, Michigan Mile, Teddy Bear Trot, and bundle events including the Crim Half Marathon (10-mile and 5K) and Bobby Crim Challenge (all event distances).

Participants traveled to Flint from 410 Michigan cities, 38 states, and seven foreign nations including Costa Rica, Kenya, Austria, Hong Kong, Germany, Denmark, and Canada. Entries in every event were higher than numbers in 2023 and 2024 and the Crim expects continued growth on its Road to 50 in 2027.

In the elite field, both the men’s and women’s champions hailed from Michigan. Nathan Martin finished the 10-mile race in 47:01 and Dot McMahan finished in 55:47.

In second and third place in the men’s division were Andrew Bowman (MI, 48:40), Drew Kolodge (MI, 48:52). Second and third place in the women’s division were taken by Jane Bareikis (IL, 55:52) and Anne-Marie Blaney (MI, 56:22). Tom Davis was the winner in the hand-cycling division.

Brandon Morgan, Director of External Relations at the Crim, said, “It was a true honor to see such massive crowds at the Crim Festival of Races this year. It truly takes the entire community to make this happen – corporate partners, safety officers, volunteers, the Crim staff, and of course, the participants – they are the ones that make this event what it is. Our team was better prepared than ever before to stage the event and we hope every person who traveled in, participated, and supported the work of the Crim Fitness Foundation had a wonderful experience. We are already thinking about Crim49!”

The Crim’s next events are the 5K on the RUNway hosted by Flint’s Bishop International Airport on October 4 and the Halloween Hustle 5K and Kids’ Trick-or-Trot, hosted by Genesee County Park’s Crossroads Village on October 25. Information is available at crimraces.org.
