Position Summary
The Associate Director, Community Fundraising is responsible for leading Achilles International’s charity fundraising program (Team Achilles) and other community-based fundraising activities.
This role oversees strategy, goal-setting, and relationship management with key race partners, while managing the full lifecycle of Team Achilles members, from recruitment and onboarding through race execution and post-race stewardship. The Associate Director plays a critical role in driving community fundraising revenue, strengthening partnerships, and delivering an exceptional experience that reflects Achilles’ mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Race Partner Management
● Lead strategy and annual goal-setting for Team Achilles community fundraising initiatives.
● Manage relationships with major race partners in connection to charity bibs, including oversight of charity partnership renewals and, when appropriate, securing new race partnerships.
● Serve as the primary point of contact with individuals who oversee and manage charity programs at partner races.
● Attend charity bib race partner events to maintain visibility and strengthen relationships.
Team Achilles Runner Recruitment, Onboarding & Fundraising Operations
● Oversee recruitment and onboarding of approximately 350 Team Achilles runners for the seven Abbott World Marathon Majors and additional endurance events throughout the year.
● Review runner applications, communicate outcomes with applicants, and manage the registration process for accepted participants.
● Set and manage fundraising minimums in alignment with organizational goals.
● Develop and manage race and participant tracking tools, including roster management, charity entrant agreements, and fundraising platforms (e.g., GoFundMe Pro, GivenGain, Grassrootz, etc.).
● Collaborate with Communications and other internal stakeholders to develop Team Achilles applications, update website content, and draft online fundraising pages for annual campaigns, end-of-year appeals, and special fundraising events.
Stewardship & Engagement of Team Achilles Runners
● Build and maintain strong relationships with Team Achilles runners throughout the fundraising and race cycle.
● Plan and host in-person and virtual engagement opportunities, including team welcome events, fundraising and mission-focused webinars, happy hours, group runs, and pre-race preparation sessions.
● Coordinate distribution of team jerseys and runner incentives.
● Monitor fundraising progress and conduct personalized outreach and check-ins to support runners in meeting their goals.
● Respond to Team Achilles inquiries in a timely, supportive manner.
Race Weekend Support & Post-Race Stewardship
● Travel to select races as needed and approved.
● Coordinate with internal colleagues to include Team Achilles runners in race weekend events, including meals and gatherings.
● Serve as a resource for runners during race weekend, addressing last-minute questions related to expos, logistics, and race-day planning.
● Continue stewardship of Team Achilles runners following race completion.
● Support transition of runners into donor or volunteer portfolios when applicable, in coordination with the broader development team.
Qualifications
● Experience in community fundraising, peer-to-peer fundraising, or nonprofit development, preferably within a mission-driven organization.
● Strong relationship management skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including race partners, volunteers, and donors.
● Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and platforms simultaneously.
● Comfortable working with fundraising and registration tools, CRM systems, and digital communication platforms.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Willingness and ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends for partner events and race weekends.

Salary Range
● $95,000 – $110,000
