The Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation is thrilled to announce Circle K, one of its Gold Level Sponsors, has donated 60 race entries to the organization’s Blue Line Runnership Program that provides free race entries to local nonprofits and their clients.

Part of the mission of the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation is to benefit nonprofit and charitable organizations. To date, more than $6 million dollars has been raised through the net proceeds of events, runner donations, and its Blue Line Charity Partner Program.

Specifically, the Runnership Program offers runner scholarships/race entries to area nonprofits that serve the underprivileged, disadvantaged, or those struggling with mental health and/or recovery. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 14 at akronmarathon.org/runnership.

If chosen, free race entries will be awarded based on their organization’s services and eligibility. These individuals will be able to participate in the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, & Team Relay, Sept. 25, 2021.

Circle K is one of the largest convenience store brands in the United States and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard. In Summit County, we have 61 stores, and they’ve proudly been part of the Akron Marathon since 2018.

“Running is a hobby of mine, and Akron Marathon gives me the opportunity to couple that with giving back to our community,” said Jack Wiolland of Circle K. “We worked as a team to not only participate in the relay but to create excitement to raise money for our community. Through our Annual Charity Golf Outing, held every August, and collections in local stores, we are committed to reinvest in our region.”

“As a nonprofit ourselves, we understand the work and dedication that goes into providing services to our community,” states Anne Bitong, president and CEO of the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation. “We’re so proud of this donation by Circle K, the Runnership Program, and the opportunities to partner with incredible nonprofits on the Blue Line.”
