ATLANTA – April 28, 2025 – Major League Baseball (MLB), in collaboration with Atlanta Track Club, runningnerds and the Atlanta Braves, will host the MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler through Atlanta’s historic Summerhill neighborhood on Sunday, July 13 as part of MLB All-Star Week in Atlanta. The race will pay tribute to the legendary Hank Aaron with a 4.4-mile course—a nod to Aaron’s iconic jersey number 44.
Participants will start and finish outside Center Parc Stadium, near the site of Hank Aaron’s record-breaking 715th home run in 1974, a moment that cemented his place in baseball history and changed the game forever.
The race is open to participants ages nine and older and welcomes both strollers and dogs, making it an inclusive celebration for all members of the family. The running path will include a number of baseball-themed design elements, as well as passing the historic Hank Aaron Statue. MLB legends will cheer on participants throughout the race.
“Hank Aaron is one of the most important figures in Atlanta history, and we are honored to celebrate him with the MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler,” said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. “This race is a perfect fusion of Atlanta’s rich baseball heritage and its vibrant running community, offering participants an opportunity to engage with the excitement of All-Star Week while paying homage to one of baseball’s greatest legends.”
The MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration between MLB, Atlanta Track Club and runningnerds—organizations with shared missions to inspire active lifestyles and bring communities together.
“runningnerds has always been about building community through movement,” said Tes Sobomehin Marshall, race director and founder of runningnerds, an Atlanta-based race production company. “Partnering with MLB and Atlanta Track Club allows us to create something truly special that connects sport, culture and legacy.”
It’s this spirit of collaboration and shared purpose that sets the 4.4 Miler apart.
“One of our key priorities for All-Star Week in Atlanta is to celebrate the city’s deep baseball roots while engaging broader communities,” said April Brown, MLB Senior Vice President, Social Responsibility. “Atlanta has a large and energetic running community. By pairing the energy of the running world with Hank Aaron’s enduring legacy in the heart of Braves Country, we’ve created a unique event for fans, families, and runners of all ages.”
Registration is priced at $44 in honor of Aaron’s jersey number and includes a commemorative shirt and medal. Proceeds from the race will benefit Chasing The Dream Foundation and the Henry Louis Aaron Fund, the latter was established in 2021 by the Braves, MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association to positively impact the future of baseball by investing in those who are following in his footsteps on the field and in the front office. These charitable donations are part of MLB and the Atlanta Braves’ long-standing support of Hank Aaron’s legacy and the Aaron family’s work in the community of greater-metro Atlanta and beyond.
All event participants will receive tickets to select MLB All-Star Week events, including the HBCU Swingman Classic Presented by T-Mobile on Friday, July 11, at Truist Park. There, fans can witness top talent from Historically Black Colleges & Universities showcasing their skills on a national stage.
