Pat the Patriot, Wally & Tessie and Blades toed the line during ASICS Falmouth Road Race Weekend 2024 Event

FALMOUTH, Mass. – As part of ASICS Falmouth Road Race weekend, the first-ever Mascot Race kicked off the sold-out SBLI Family Fun Run races on Saturday, Aug. 17, where 1,000 kids ages 2-12 took part in a morning of festivities ahead of the 7-mile Falmouth Road Race the following day. Local sports team mascot competitors included Pat the Patriot, Boston Bruins’ Blades and Red Sox Green Monsters Wally and his little sister, Tessie. Additional mascots also took part, including Smokey Bear from the Falmouth Fire Department and McGruff the Crime Dog from the Falmouth Police Department.

Mascots took to the Falmouth High School Track for a 100-meter dash. McGruff took first place, followed by Pat the Patriot in second and Blades in third.

“Our team is so thrilled for this exciting addition to Race Weekend,” said Jennifer Edwards, executive director of Falmouth Road Race, Inc. “New England’s rich sports history is something we take pride in being a part of. Bringing all these incredible organizations together in Falmouth through the inaugural Mascot Race is a true testament to the strong sports community of New England!”

The free event also featured vendors, activities, music and more. Every participant was awarded a special medal for their accomplishment.
