SEPTEMBER 1, 2024 – VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA – The Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K took place this past weekend, drawing a record number of participants from 31 states for a day filled with excitement and success. The annual event, now in its second year, has become a new staple in the Virginia Beach community and continues to grow in popularity.

Over 4,100 runners of all ages and abilities took to the streets of Virginia Beach to tackle the 10-mile course, 5K course and Kids 1 Miler. The race featured stunning views of the ocean, a boardwalk finish, as well as live music and entertainment at the post-race party.

Race Director, Jerry Frostick, expressed his excitement for the successful event, stating, “We are thrilled with the success of this year’s Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler. The turnout was phenomenal, and the energy among participants and spectators was truly inspiring. The support from the community, City of Virginia Beach, our sponsors and the determination from the participants truly made this a memorable race weekend.”

The Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler is not only a premier running event but also a fundraiser for a local charity.  This year’s race raised funds for the Chartway Promise Foundation, which grants wishes to medically fragile children. One wish was granted on stage at the post-race party on Saturday and Sunday with the families and participants present.

“We love our partnership with J&A Racing,” said Christine Wilson, president of the Chartway Promise Foundation. “The entire Hampton Roads running community showed their support for our Promise Heroes, not only by cheering them on during their wish reveals, but by fundraising beforehand and helping to make their wishes come true.”

“Chartway is proud to be the annual title sponsor of the Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K over Labor Day weekend, an event that brings our vibrant community together for a healthy, fun experience at the Oceanfront,” explained Chartway Credit Union president and CEO, Brian Schools. “It’s truly inspiring to see so many come out to share in the joy of achieving something meaningful. We’re always grateful to partner with J&A Racing to create moments that help us all thrive.”
