Flint, MI – The Crim Fitness Foundation is excited to announce registration is open for Courageous Connections, mindfulness-based stress reduction programs set to launch this fall, beginning with orientation on April 8, 2026 and followed by weekly virtual sessions from through May.
Courageous Connections is a unique community engagement and leadership experience rooted in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, inviting Black Flint residents and Law Enforcement Officers to build the skills of mindful leadership and practice communication strategies to engage in dialogue with one another.
The two groups will begin training in affinity groups and then come together for a day of dialogue led by nationally renowned facilitators, Trymaine Gaither and Richard Goerling.
This course is the first of its kind in the United States, and Flint is being studied as a model for other cities around the country. The Crim is partnering with experts at Brown University and Mindful Badge to design and facilitate this course in Flint.
Participants of Courageous Connections will:
● Strengthen individual relationships between members of the Black community and police officers serving in Flint
● Understand the impact of stress and learn new strategies to navigate it
● Build mindful leadership skills
● Enhance your ability to have difficult conversations to promote positive individual and systems change
The program is open to Black Flint residents and any Law Enforcement Officer within Genesee County. To register or learn more, visit https://crim.org/courageous-connections or call 810-235-7894.
