MIAMI – January 17, 2026 – With college football fans pouring into town for Monday’s national championship and long-distance runners preparing for marathon week in Miami, Diplo’s Run Club added a new kind of energy to the city on Saturday.

More than 7,000 participants took part in the inaugural Diplo’s Run Club Miami 5K, hosted by Grammy-winning DJ and producer Diplo. The event featured a scenic waterfront start and finish at Maurice A. Ferré Park, with a 3.1-mile route weaving through downtown Miami and culminated in a finish line festival where Diplo performed alongside surprise guest Hugel and a lineup of celebrity friends.

For Diplo, Miami holds a special place in the Run Club origin story. In 2022, he ran the Miami Half Marathon and famously went straight from the finish line to the club – sparking the idea for a new event series where movement leads into celebration.

“This is where it all started,” Diplo told the crowd. “Miami brings the energy – people love to move and have a great time. Today was all about mixing running with music and showing up together.”

The star-powered morning featured appearances by longtime collaborator Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, who joined runners at the start line, along with actress Claire Holt and global pop star Camila Cabello, a Miami native – both of whom completed the 5K. NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. later joined Diplo and surprise guest Hugel onstage for the post-race concert, drawing loud cheers as the rhythms took over.

While the race welcomed runners of all abilities, the front of the pack still delivered strong performances. Christian Vitagliano, 27, was the overall winner in 16:02, while Bethany Sachtleben claimed the women’s title in 17:36, finishing third overall. Both crossed the finish line to cheers from a festive, all-ages crowd.

In partnership with PLUS1, a nonprofit that helps artists and brands maximize social impact, a portion of event proceeds will benefit South Florida youth through national nonprofit Good Sports, providing new sports equipment, apparel and footwear to underserved kids.

Saturday’s Run Club capped a vibrant weekend in Miami, where athletes, music lovers and sports fans are converging for high-profile competition and celebration. Diplo’s Run Club will conclude its national tour next Saturday in Phoenix on January 24, 2026.
