Traverse City Track Club’s Newest Event to support TART’s Boardman Lake Loop Trail

(Traverse City, MI – April 14, 2023) The Traverse City Track Club (TCTC) announces “Loop the Lake,” a new 4-mile urban trail race around Boardman Lake, just south of downtown Traverse City, on Saturday, June 10, 2023. The course will follow the completed Boardman Lake Loop Trail, which includes mostly pavement, as well as some gravel, bridges, and the iconic boardwalk.

Runners and walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate. The race will feature wave starts to maximize safety and flow of runners as they circle the Boardman Lake Loop Trail in a clockwise direction. Participants will enjoy fun food and swag. Registration and further race details can be found at tctrackclub.com/loop-the-lake.

“Boardman Lake Loop Trail is such a wonderful asset in the heart of Traverse City and speaks to what collaboration and years of dedication can accomplish. What better way to celebrate “The Loop” than with a TCTC race,” says Janice Beyer, Traverse City Track Club President. “We are thrilled to continue our community partnerships as all race proceeds will benefit TART Trails, Inc.”

Organizations with a strong presence along Boardman Lake, such as Traverse Area Community Sailing and Traverse Area Community Rowing Club will be volunteering at the race. Area neighbors, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to come out, support, and celebrate on race day.

Loop the Lake is the sixth annual race event produced by the TCTC, established in 1962. The TCTC is the largest running club in Michigan and hosts the annual Bayshore races occurring over Memorial Day weekend, attracting over 8,000 runners. As a 501(c)3 organization, the membership-based club provides programs and events to runners and walkers that have allowed the club to give back over $2 million to organizations within Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties.
