Partnership expands GivenGain’s global endurance portfolio, bringing fundraising to Africa’s largest road race

Cape Town, South Africa — GivenGain, a mission-led, global fundraising technology platform, today announced a new partnership with the Great Ethiopian Run presented by Bank of America, becoming the Official Fundraising Platform for Africa’s largest road race.

Founded by Olympic legend Haile Gebrselassie, the Great Ethiopian Run 10km attracts more than 50,000 participants annually to the streets of Addis Ababa, bringing together elite athletes, recreational runners, and communities in one of the world’s most celebrated mass participation running events.

Through the partnership, participants will be able to fundraise for charitable causes through GivenGain, transforming every kilometer into an opportunity to create meaningful impact in Ethiopia and around the world.

The partnership marks another milestone in GivenGain’s continued expansion across the global endurance landscape, further strengthening a portfolio that includes some of the world’s most recognized running events, including the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

“As one of the world’s most iconic road races, the Great Ethiopian Run 10km represents everything we believe endurance events can achieve beyond the finish line,” said Johannes van Eeden, CEO of GivenGain. “We’re honored to partner with an event that has inspired millions through the power of running and look forward to helping thousands of participants turn their race experience into lasting impact for charitable causes.”

The partnership also reflects GivenGain’s growing collaboration with Bank of America across the global endurance community. As the presenting partner of the Great Ethiopian Run 10km, Boston Marathon, and Chicago Marathon, Bank of America continues to support events that bring people together through sport, while GivenGain provides the fundraising technology that helps transform participation into philanthropy.

“Since its inception, the Great Ethiopian Run 10km has celebrated the power of running to unite people across communities and cultures,” said Dagmawit Amare, Managing Director of Great Ethiopian Run. “Partnering with GivenGain gives our participants a simple and trusted way to extend that impact by supporting causes that matter to them, creating an even deeper connection between the race and the communities we serve.”

GivenGain continues to invest in partnerships that make charitable fundraising an integrated part of the participant experience. Today, the platform powers fundraising for endurance events across North America, Europe, Africa, and beyond, helping event organizers and charities engage new supporters, reach broader audiences, and raise more for the causes they champion.

Unlike traditional fundraising platforms, GivenGain operates with a mission-first approach designed to remove barriers to generosity while delivering world-class fundraising technology. Its borderless platform enables charities to receive support from donors around the world while equipping participants with intuitive fundraising tools that make giving accessible, engaging, and impactful.

“The endurance community has demonstrated time and again that movement has the power to inspire generosity,” added van Eeden. “Every race tells a story. Together with Great Ethiopian Run, we’re excited to help thousands of participants write stories that extend far beyond race day.”

The next edition of the Great Ethiopian Run 10km presented by Bank of America will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 22 November 2026, where close to 50,000 participants from across Ethiopia and around the world will again come together to celebrate sport, community, and impact.
