Iconic Half Marathon returns first Sunday in November offering runners picturesque views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO – May 10, 2022 – The Golden Gate Half Marathon today announced a new partnership with Bay Area-based specialty retailer Sports Basement to welcome thousands of participants to San Francisco on Sunday, November 6, 2022. The classic California half-marathon is the original race in the Bay Area that takes runners out-and-back across the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Sports Basement as the official Retail and Expo Partner of November’s Golden Gate Half Marathon,” said Phyllis Blanchard, director of partnerships for the event. “San Francisco has an incredible running community and Sports Basement is the hub for so many athletes around the Bay Area. We can’t wait to partner together and welcome runners from around the world to the bucket list experience of running across the Golden Gate Bridge.”

Runners enjoy touring the Marina, Crissy Field, the Presidio and running on city streets to the bridge and across to Vista Point, for the best selfie spot in running. Participants then run back across the bridge enjoying breathtaking views of the city skyline, Alcatraz and the San Francisco Bay before finishing at Ghirardelli Square.

As the Exclusive Retail Partner and Expo Partner of the Golden Gate Half Marathon, Sports Basement will host the pre-race packet pickup where all runners will pick up their race bib, t-shirt and runner swag while getting the chance to chat with some of the best running brands in the business. Both the half-marathon and 5k start together on Van Ness Ave in Aquatic Park on Sunday morning at 7:00am.
