Partnership Unites Two Community-Driven Organizations Committed to Health, Inclusion, and Equity in Madison
MADISON, WI, April 18, 2025 — Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) is proud to announce its new role as the Exclusive Health Care Partner of Run Madtown, Madison’s premier running event. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering inclusive, community-centered wellness initiatives that promote health equity across the region.
As a member-owned, non-profit health care cooperative, GHC-SCW has long championed the idea that health care is a human right. The organization’s mission—to partner with members and the communities it serves to maximize health and well-being—aligns seamlessly with Run Madtown’s inclusive philosophy of welcoming runners of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels.
“Run Madtown is more than a race—it’s a celebration of community, movement, and belonging,” said Beth Salinger, Owner and Race Director of Run Madtown. “Partnering with GHC-SCW, a health care leader that shares our values of equity and inclusion, allows us to deepen our impact and reach more people in meaningful ways.”
GHC-SCW’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident through its robust community programs, including the Refugee Assistance Program, Bridges to Access, and Adopt-A-School initiatives. The Cooperative also supports the Latino Health Council and provides interpreter services in multiple languages, ensuring culturally competent care for all members. 1
“We believe that health and wellness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of race, income, or background,” said Marty Anderson, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer at GHC-SCW. “Our partnership with Run Madtown is an opportunity to extend that belief beyond our clinics and into the heart of the community, including participants’ daily lives.”
The collaboration includes wellness education, and community outreach efforts designed to engage underrepresented groups in Madison’s fitness and health culture. Together, GHC-SCW and Run Madtown aim to create a more inclusive and healthier Madison—one flamingo-length stride at a time.
