About Group Health Cooperative of Central Wisconsin

When health care and a health plan work together, the result is high-quality care and member-centered service. GHC-SCW is a non-profit, member-owned health plan providing care and coverage to more than 70,000 members throughout south central Wisconsin.

As GHC-SCW celebrates its 50th anniversary, it reflects on five decades of innovation and community-focused care. Fifty years ago, they pioneered a shift in the Dane County health care landscape as the area’s first HMO, founded on the belief that there was a better way to provide health care. Community members envisioned an organization that brought health insurance and health care together, and today, that simple idea has grown into a nationally recognized leader in health care.
