Flint, MI – Henry Ford Health, now with a Genesee County hospital location, Henry Ford Genesys Hospital, has teamed up with the Crim Fitness Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on serving the physical, mental, and social wellbeing needs of Flint and Genesee County residents – and widely known as the host of the HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races.

In 2025, Henry Ford Health will be the headlining sponsor for the Crim’s youth running initiatives which include Crim Youth Summer Running Clubs and the longstanding tradition of the kids’ mini-Crim, the Marti Austin Kids’ Classic.

Brandon Morgan, Crim’s Director of External Relations, said, “To have a partner like Henry Ford Health—an anchor institution with a long history of improving health and wellbeing in the communities it serves—is wonderful. And, to have their support for our youngest participants and the programs that are foundational for lifelong wellness is an added bonus. We are very grateful for their partnership and can’t wait for what this summer will bring for all of our events and participants.”

“We are thrilled to be supporting an organization with such a meaningful mission of creating healthy habits, improving lives and empowering community members to take control of their physical wellbeing,” said Dr. Adnan Munkarah, President, Clinical Enterprise & Chief Physician Executive at Henry Ford Health. “It’s a privilege to be able to partner with the Crim Fitness Foundation and make a true impact on the health of our community, including children.”

The Crim’s Youth Summer Running program offers more than a dozen clubs located throughout Genesee County where more than 400 families can join the low-cost program aimed at introducing the sport of running to children. Children get to be a part of summer fun with their peers while learning the basics of good running form, the importance of healthy nutrition, exercise, and setting goals. Clubs can be found throughout the area in Flint, Davison, Fenton, Flushing, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, and Swartz Creek, with more clubs being formed.

The clubs prepare for the end-of-summer Marti Austin Kids’ Classic, which will be held in the Flint Cultural Center on August 16. Participants can choose from a variety of distances including the Diaper Dash and Toddler Trot, as well as the quarter, half, and full mile. The event also happens in collaboration with the Michigan State University Teddy Bear Health Fair which features dozens of health-related vendors and activities.

Additionally, Henry Ford Health is sponsoring the Crim Volunteer Program for the 48th HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races, which engages more than 1,000 volunteers and has created a positive experience for more than 11,000 participants and tens of thousands of spectators.
