Long Beach logistics company named Official Sustainable Transportation Partner through 2028

LONG BEACH – September 29, 2026 – One of Long Beach’s largest annual sporting events is adding some hometown horsepower to its sustainability efforts.

The 2XU Long Beach Marathon today announced a new three-year partnership with Hight Logistics Inc, naming the Long Beach-based transportation and logistics company the event’s Official Sustainable Transportation Partner through 2028.

The agreement brings together two organizations with deep connections to Long Beach and gives Hight Logistics a prominent platform during one of the city’s highest-profile annual events. The partnership begins with the 42nd annual 2XU Long Beach Marathon, which will bring a record, sold-out field of more than 28,000 participants to the city the weekend of October 9-11, 2026.

“Hight Logistics is building its business here in Long Beach while investing in the future of sustainable transportation, making this partnership a natural fit,” said Phyllis Blanchard, vice president of commercial partnerships for Motiv Sports. “The marathon is powered by organizations throughout this community, and we’re excited to welcome another Long Beach company that shares our commitment to innovation, sustainability and creating a first-class experience.”

Founded in 2011, Hight Logistics is an asset-based drayage provider serving the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, with a growing focus on zero-emission freight transportation through Hight Electric Inc.. The company’s electric drayage operations have now surpassed 2 million EV miles over the last 4 years, demonstrating how battery-electric freight transportation is already operating at scale in Southern California.

Hight supports its electric fleet with in-yard charging infrastructure and continues to invest in the equipment and technology needed to expand zero-emission freight operations. The company also operates 400 chassis and provides drayage, yard operations, container storage, transload and cross-dock services, along with reefer, hazmat, bonded freight and out-of-gauge capabilities.

That growth is closely connected to Long Beach, where Hight’s operations are based and much of its port activity takes place.

“Hight Logistics is proud to support the Long Beach Marathon and the community we serve every day, said Don Peer, Vice President of Business Development. “Our zero-emission drayage program has now surpassed 2 million EV miles, and we continue to invest in the fleet and infrastructure needed to expand sustainable freight operations. Having one of our electric trucks at the finish line is a great way to bring that story out of the port and into the community.”

Race participants will get an up-close look at that evolution during marathon weekend. Hight will position a branded Class 8 electric truck near the finish-line area as part of its event activation, carrying the message: “Let Hight Logistics Take You Over the Finish Line.”

The activation is designed to connect Hight’s work in zero-emission transportation with the Long Beach community in a visible and approachable setting — bringing a piece of the region’s rapidly evolving freight industry out of the port complex and into one of the city’s largest annual events.

The partnership comes as both organizations continue to grow. Hight plans to further expand its current 26 truck zero-emission fleet and supporting infrastructure, with the addition of 25 Tesla Class 8 Semis next year and the supporting infrastructure. Meanwhile, the 2XU Long Beach Marathon will welcome a record, sold-out field of more than 28,000 participants in 2026, making it the largest race weekend in the event’s 42-year history. First held more than four decades ago, the Long Beach Marathon has grown alongside the city while maintaining a distinctly local identity. Its 26.2-mile course serves as a running tour of Long Beach, carrying athletes past the Queen Mary and Shoreline Village, along the Pacific Ocean and through Belmont Shore, Marine Stadium and Cal State Long Beach before returning downtown for the finish on Shoreline Drive.

The 2026 race weekend begins Friday, Oct. 9, with the Health & Wellness Expo at the Long Beach Convention Center. Saturday features the Aquarium of the Pacific 5K, followed Sunday by the 2XU Long Beach Marathon and Half Marathon. Event weekend concludes at Marina Green with the Finish Line Festival.
