St. Paul’s Danny Docherty Wins His Third Race of the Weekend with 10 Mile Victory

 

St. Paul, Minn. – October 3, 2021 – Mohamed Hrezi of Philadelphia and Naomi Fulton of Hartland, Wisc. won titles at today’s Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Hrezi, 29, won the men’s race in 2:15:22, while Fulton, 35, paced the women field in 2:45:57.

 

3,192 finished the 26.2 mile race from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul, which was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

 

In the companion Medtronic TC 10 Mile, St. Paul’s Danny Docherty completed a three-victory Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend, adding that title to the 10K and 5K wins he notched on Saturday.

 

Docherty clocked 49:19 in the “Shortcut to the Capitol”, the final leg of a 25-hour, 19.3-mile weekend of racing for the 2019 3rd-place finisher in the marathon.

 

In the women’s 10 mile, Rachel Drake of Portland, Ore, won in 56:41. 6,521 runners finished the Medtronic TC 10 Mile.

 

“After everything people have been through – after everything runners have been through with cancelled events – it was a special day for runners today,” Twin Cities In Motion executive director Virginia Brophy Achman said. “You could feel a unique energy among the runners, spectators and volunteers. It was an honor to host the event for the community.”

 

Due to the ongoing pandemic, runners were asked to mask in the race’s start corrals and in the finish line walk-off during today’s event.

 

Across the entirety of 2021 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend, more than 13,700 participated int the event that was held at reduced capacity.
