Position Summary
The Institutional Giving Manager plays a critical role in advancing Achilles International’s fundraising strategy by leading institutional-giving efforts and shaping compelling development communications. This position is responsible for managing foundation grants, supporting corporate partner relationships, and creating high-impact donor-facing materials including emails, proposals, solicitation letters, and funding reports.
The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a strong writer who can translate programmatic impact into persuasive narratives that inspire support from foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
Key Responsibilities
Institutional Giving (Foundations & Corporate Partnerships)
- Research, identify, and cultivate foundation and corporate funding opportunities aligned with Achilles’ mission
- Manage the full grant lifecycle, including proposal development, submission, and reporting
- Write and edit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports
- Track deadlines, deliverables, and stewardship activities to ensure timely and accurate grant application and report submissions
- Support relationship management with corporate partners, including drafting communications, impact updates, and sponsorship materials
- Collaborate with program staff to gather data, stories, and outcomes for proposals and reports
Development Communications
- Lead the creation of donor communications across channels, including email campaigns, appeals, newsletters, and acknowledgment letters
- Develop clear, consistent, and engaging messaging that reflects Achilles’ voice and brand
- Write compelling fundraising materials such as annual appeals, campaign collateral, and stewardship reports
- Partner with the marketing/communications team to align messaging and storytelling across platforms
- Translate program data and impact into donor-friendly narratives
Annual Giving & Chapter Fundraising Support
- Enhance and expand Achilles International’s annual giving program, including strategy, segmentation, and campaign execution
- Develop fundraising materials and toolkits for regional chapter leads to support local fundraising efforts (fundraising templates, messaging guides, campaign resources)
- Serve as a key support staff member for chapter fundraising, providing guidance, communications support, and best fundraising practices
- Collaborate with chapter leaders to align local fundraising efforts with national strategy and messaging
- Support peer-to-peer and grassroots fundraising initiatives across the chapter network
Strategy & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Development and Communications teams to support fundraising campaigns and initiatives
- Develop and oversee an annual cross-departmental calendar for development, programming, and communications activities
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of donor communications and recommend improvements
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in all external communications
Qualifications
- Three (3) plus years of experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, or fundraising communications
- Strong donor communications and stewardship
- Proven track record of securing foundation grants and writing successful proposals
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience supporting corporate partnerships or sponsorships preferred
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Raisers’ Edge), visual design platforms (e.g., Canva and Adobe), and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact) a plus

Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range: [$75,000 – $85,000].
- Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
- This role is based in our New York City office with four days onsite.
