MADISON, Wis. — April 28, 2026 — Participants from Let Me Run, a nationally recognized youth development program, will take part in the Twilight 5K during Run Madtown weekend while also serving as volunteers throughout the event, highlighting the organization’s commitment to service, leadership and community engagement.

Let Me Run is a nonprofit wellness program designed for boys in grades 3–8 that uses running as a platform to build confidence, character and healthy relationships. Through a structured, seven-week curriculum led by trained volunteer coaches, participants engage in twice-weekly practices that combine physical activity with lessons focused on emotional, social and psychological growth.

The program culminates in a celebratory 5K experience, with participation in the Twilight 5K on Saturday, May 23 at Run Madtown a season-capping highlight for the boys and their coaches. Beyond running, Let Me Run participants will also volunteer during the event, reinforcing the program’s emphasis on giving back and being active contributors to their communities.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Let Me Run to our Twilight 5K on May 23,” said Beth Salinger, Race Director. “This program is making a difference in the health and wellness of boys nationally and we know they’ll have a great time running, volunteering and celebrating with us!”

“At Let Me Run, we use running to help boys build confidence, character, and a sense of belonging that carries into every part of their lives,” said David Brewer, National Teams Coordinator for Let Me Run. “What makes this partnership with Run Madtown so powerful is the shared belief that running can bring people together and strengthen a community. Our boys are not only crossing a finish line, they are showing up for others as volunteers and teammates. That combination of personal growth and service is what drives our mission, and we are excited to keep building that impact in Madison.”

The presence of Let Me Run at Run Madtown highlights a shared mission of promoting lifelong health, inclusion and personal growth through running. By stepping into volunteer roles, participants will experience both sides of the event, celebrating their own accomplishments while supporting thousands of fellow runners from across Wisconsin and beyond.

Let Me Run’s approach extends far beyond fitness. The program encourages boys to “be themselves, be active, and belong,” fostering self-expression, teamwork and respect, values that align closely with the inclusive spirit of Run Madtown weekend.

Run Madtown’s Twilight 5K provides an ideal stage for these young runners to showcase their progress and for the broader community to witness the impact of youth-focused programs that prioritize both physical and personal development.
