DMSE Sports debuts apparel and medal designs for their brand new running event

BOSTON – DMSE Sports is providing participants with a preview of the commemorative apparel and medals that await them at Run Medford, a brand new weekend-long celebration of community, running, and the City of Medford. Produced by Ashworth Awards, both designs feature a blue mustang that pays homage to Medford High School’s athletics mascot and school colors. Finisher medals and t-shirts are included with every registration. Runners and walkers looking to take part on Sept. 18 can sign up at www.RunMedford.com.

The mustang imagery is just one way that Run Medford highlights local icons. The event coincides with the fiftieth Medford High School Class Reunion. Medford-native winners of the Boston Marathon Johnny Kelley and Joe Smith will be honored as a part of the festivities. The field will include members of the Medford Athlete Hall of Fame, as well as the Medford Police and Fire Departments.

“Growing up in Medford has had a lasting impact on my life. This brand new running event is all about celebrating my beloved hometown,” said McGillivray. “I hope that Run Medford will inspire locals to feel great pride for the city and those visiting to discover all the things that make Medford such a special place.”

“Running is a fantastic way to get in shape, improve your mental and physical health and explore your city,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “I’m thrilled we’re joining with the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation and DMSE Sports to help put on these events through the weekend of Sept. 16-18, which includes a Mayor’s Celebrity Mile, 5k, 8k and so much more. The runners of Medford and beyond are going to be able to enjoy and celebrate our community throughout the entire inaugural Run Medford event.”

Runners will take to the streets of Medford on Sunday, Sept. 18 with 8k, 5k, and one-mile courses, as well as kids’ fun runs, to choose from. Each running event starts and finishes at Medford City Hall. Registration for the 8k and 5k events is $45. Entry into the kids’ fun run events is $10. Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal, t-shirt, a copy of McGillivray’s book “Running Across America, A True Story of Dreams, Determination and Heading for Home”, and, for those over 21 years old, two drink tickets for the post-race celebration at Carroll’s. Awards will be presented for the top three participants in each age group, overall male, female, and masters divisions. The event benefits the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation, which will support numerous Medford youth organizations.

Run Medford has been brought to life with the support of sponsors including iHeart Media, Members Plus, Carroll’s, Withum Advisory, Construction & General Laborers Union Local 22, Risman Insurance Agency, Inc., Kevin McAnneny, Rotary Club of Medford, Domenic Camarra Family, Medford Visiting Nursing Association,  lululemon, Medford Chamber of Commence, and Wegman’s.
