[DAVENPORT, IA—August 7, 2022]— The 48th Running of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 was a day of celebration and homecoming, as almost 10,000 participants took to the streets of Davenport, Iowa, on July 30.

“It was an electric weekend of events filled with cheering fans lining the streets for every event. Music was in the air at every twist and turn on the course, and community pride was on display from start to finish,” said Michelle Juehring, Race Director Quad-City Times Bix 7

The Genesis Sports Medicine Brady Street Hill Sprints got the Bix 7 weekend off to a rousing start on Thursday. The party didn’t let up on Friday as the kids had time to shine in the Arconic Jr Bix.

Patrick Tiernan won the men’s elite division in 32:32, becoming the first Australian runner to win the Bix 7 since Rob de Castella did it in 1982.

Fiona O’Keefe won the women’s elite division, crossing the finish line in 35:59, a new Bix 7 record for an American runner and the sixth-fastest time ever for a female in race history.

The inaugural Caesars Sportsbook Team Competition, sponsored by the Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf, featured 27 teams racing the 7-mile course. Running Wild Elite took the men’s division and Runablaze Iowa for the women.

Olympian and former marathon world-record holder Bill Rodgers, a Bix 7 competitor since 1980, hosted a new 2-mile shake-out run on Friday. It was an excellent way for runners, new and old, to meet the original ambassador of running.

Ten countries were represented as participants came together, in-person and virtually.
