U.S. Olympian Dakotah Lindwurm and Berlin Marathon Race Director Mark Milde among other podcast guests over the last month

New York, September 5, 2024 — Nonprofit New York Road Runners (NYRR) dropped Episode 61 of its NYRR Set the Pace Presented by Peloton podcast today featuring Paris Olympic medalist Josh Kerr as he readies to close his historic season at the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile this weekend. This week marks the one-year anniversary of the podcast.

Kerr will aim to defend his New Balance 5th Avenue Mile title after winning last year’s race in 3:47.9, the third-fastest time in event history and fastest since 1995. He won a world title in the 1,500 meters in 2023 and an Olympic silver medal in the distance in Paris this summer.

Josh Kerr said on NYRR Set the Pace: “After Paris, it was important for me to really enjoy what I’m doing for the rest of the season because I have normally a bit of a lull after a major championship. I wanted something that was really going to spark me to get out of the door and excited. So when I looked at the calendar, it was like yeah, I can go to New York and enjoy the last part of the season with one of the most interesting and fun races of the year.”

New York Road Runners produces 60 adult and youth annually with the aim of building healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running, and its NYRR Set the Pace podcast, co-hosted by NYRR Chief Executive Officer Rob Simmelkjaer and Peloton Instructor Becs Gentry, inspires runners – and future runners – through conversations with professional athletes and everyday enthusiasts.
