October 28, 2024 – VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA – The Old Point National Bank Wicked 10K & 5K, presented by Bon Secours, proved to be a hauntingly good time as thousands of runners and spectators came out to participate in the Halloween-themed event. The race, which took place on October 25th and 26th, was a sold-out weekend with a total of 5,700 participants taking part in the Monster Mile, 5K, 10K, Bat’s Crew Challenge or the Pumpkin Smash Challenge. Participants came from 33 states and 3 countries with 24% of participants being from the Hampton Roads area.

The event featured live music from The Mashup and multiple beer offerings after the race right on the beach, adding to the festive atmosphere. Participants went all out with their costumes, with singles, pairs, and groups all donning elaborate and creative outfits. From witches to superheroes to zombies, the creativity on display was truly impressive.

Highlights on the course included Thriller dancers, a Zombie Zone, cheer groups, trick or treat stops featuring Tootsie Rolls and Candy acorn and views of the ocean along the iconic Virginia Beach Boardwalk.

Race Director Jerry Frostick expressed his excitement about the event’s success, stating, “The Old Point National Bank Wicked 10K & 5K is a special event for us and for the city of Virginia Beach. It’s not just about the running, but about the sense of community and fun that it brings to our city. We are thrilled to see so many people come out and embrace the Halloween spirit with us.”

The event not only provided a fun and festive atmosphere for participants, but also raised money for local charity, Spike’s K9 Fund, which provides services dogs the training, gear and medical needed for those dogs. With record-breaking attendance and a memorable day for all involved, the Old Point National Bank Wicked 10K & 5K is sure to be a must-attend event for years to come including next year.  Registration for 2025 is now open.
