October 27, 2025 – VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA – This past weekend, the Virginia Beach oceanfront was transformed into a Halloween spectacle as 6,309 participants from 34 states donned creative costumes and embraced the spooky spirit for the Old Point National Bank Wicked 10K & 5K presented by Sentara. The highly anticipated sold-out event (run by premier race company, J&A Racing) took place on Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25 solidifying its reputation as one of the most fun and unique 10Ks in the country.
The weekend kicked off on Friday with the thrilling Monster Mile. For many runners, this was the start of a two-race challenge—either the Bat’s Brew (Mile + 5K) or Pumpkin Smash (Mile + 10K)—culminating in their completion of a 5K or 10K on Saturday.
Saturday’s main event was a Halloween celebration like no other. The costumed runners were greeted along the course with festive candy stops, one of the event’s immersive course activations. The atmosphere was electric with a terrifying “Zombie Zone” and dynamic Thriller dancers, creating a memorable and interactive experience from start to finish.
After crossing the finish line, the party continued at the post-race festival right on the beach. Participants refueled with cold beers and warm, comforting soup provided by Baker’s Crust while enjoying a high-energy live performance from the band The Mashup, capping off a perfect fall running weekend.
Jerry and Amy Frostick, owners of J&A Racing, reflected on the event’s success and its unique place in the running world.
“This isn’t just a race; it’s a moving Halloween party and one of the most joy-filled events on the running calendar,” said Amy Frostick. “The commitment our participants make to their costumes is incredible. Seeing that level of creativity and fun, with people traveling from 34 states to be part of it, is what makes the Wicked weekend so special. We are committed to creating an experience that matches their incredible energy.”
Jerry Frostick added, “From the candy stops and Zombie Zone to the post-race party, every detail is designed with our participants’ enjoyment in mind. Our goal is to ensure that from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave, they are immersed in a one-of-a-kind, fun-filled environment. The sight of thousands of costumed runners taking over the oceanfront is something you have to see to believe.”
The Wicked 10K & 5K presented by Sentara is on tap to sellout again in 2026 and could be one of the most anticipated events for the company as the main event will take place on Halloween. For more information, visit Wicked10K.com.
