New partnership bring Spurs energy to the course and an exclusive ticket-and-race package
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – September 17, 2026 – San Antonio Sports, owner and organizer of the San Antonio Marathon, is proud to announce that the San Antonio Spurs have been named the Official Sports & Entertainment Partner of the city’s signature marathon event. Returning for its second year December 4–6, 2026, the San Antonio Marathon is expected to welcome more than 20,000 participants for three days of running, health and fitness, community celebration and San Antonio pride.
After bringing their unmistakable energy to the inaugural San Antonio Marathon in 2025, the San Antonio Spurs are expanding their involvement through a partnership that connects two powerful San Antonio traditions: coming together through sport and showing up for the community.
“The Spurs are part of the fabric of San Antonio, and we’re thrilled to have them on our team as the Official Sports & Entertainment Partner of the San Antonio Marathon,” said Jenny Carnes, president and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “Together, we’re creating a slam-dunk partnership that connects the energy of the basketball court with the excitement of the course—all while inspiring healthier lives, delivering unforgettable experiences and transforming our community through the power of sport.”
The partnership will give runners and supporters several opportunities to experience Spurs energy throughout the lead-up to race weekend and along the course. The Spurs will host a dedicated cheer location on the course featuring team branding and entertainment, creating an exclusive zone where spectators can encourage runners as they make their way through the city.
The Spurs will also engage runners, families and fans at the San Antonio Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, taking place Dec. 4–5, 2026. The expo is part of San Antonio Marathon race weekend and is free and open to the public.
“San Antonio has always been a city that welcomes the world, and the San Antonio Marathon gives runners from all across the globe an opportunity to experience the pride, energy and spirit of our community,” said RC Buford, CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. “We’re proud to support an event that puts San Antonio on the world stage, celebrates excellence in sport and shines a light on the athletes who continue to inspire us through their commitment and perseverance.”
As part of the partnership, marathon and half marathon participants can make Spurs basketball part of their road to race day with a specially priced, co-branded ticket package available during registration. The package includes one pair of tickets to one of three select Spurs home games, while supplies last:
- Thursday, Oct. 8 vs. Atlanta Hawks
- Friday, Oct. 16 vs. Sacramento Kings
- Thursday, Dec. 3 vs. Toronto Raptors
Packages are available while supplies last and can be selected through the store section of the San Antonio Marathon registration process. The ticket package gives participants a new way to celebrate their training, build excitement ahead of race day with two Spurs preseason games on October 8 and October 16, or kick off marathon weekend with a regular season Spurs game on December 3.
The San Antonio Marathon returns December 4–6, 2026, following a sold-out inaugural event that welcomed over 18,500 runners from all 50 states and 22 countries. The weekend includes the SATX 5K presented by Holidays on Houston, Health & Fitness Expo, full marathon and half marathon, with a course that showcases San Antonio’s history, culture and vibrant neighborhoods.
