The Return of Racing Continues in 2022 with the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and Bank of America Chicago 13.1

CHICAGO – Today the Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced it is accepting applications for the 2022 event at chicagomarathon.com. The launch of the 2022 application continues Chicago’s return to racing and builds on the excitement seen over a week ago when 26,122 participants crossed the finish line in Grant Park. Next year will also mark the return of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and the long-awaited debut of the Bank of America Chicago 13.1. Registration for the Shamrock Shuffle kicks off today and the Chicago 13.1 will launch registration in January.

2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon application 

The 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, a member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and an internationally renowned running event, is accepting applications through Tuesday, November 30. The application process includes a non-guaranteed entry drawing as well as a system of guaranteed entry options (starting October 26). Runners will have until Tuesday, November 30 to apply for either a guaranteed or non-guaranteed entry. The cost of an entry is $230 for United States residents and $240 for those residing outside of the United States.

Guaranteed entry 

Runners can qualify for an entry into the 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon through several guaranteed entry opportunities:

  • Time qualifiers who have met the event’s age graded qualifying standards or qualify for the event’s American Development Program.
  • Legacy finishers who have completed the Chicago Marathon five or more times within the last 10 years.
  • Runners who deferred their 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon place and entry fee to a future event (2021, 2022 or 2023) in response to the cancellation of the 2020 Chicago Marathon.
  • Runners who cancelled their 2021 entry.
  • Charity runners who are fundraising for an official charity as part of the Chicago Marathon Charity Program.
  • International runners (non-U.S.) participating in the International Tour Group Program.
  • Runners who have completed the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K four or more times since 2008 and have signed up for the 2022 Shamrock Shuffle.

Non-guaranteed entry drawing 

Runners who do not qualify for a guaranteed entry can apply for the non-guaranteed entry drawing. The event will select names from the full pool of non-guaranteed entry applicants and notify runners of their selection status on Thursday, December 9.

2022 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 registration 

The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 will offer runners a uniquely Chicago experience, encouraging them to get out of the Loop and explore the neighborhoods of Chicago’s west side. A three-day health and wellness festival and race experience designed to showcase the best of Chicago will take place Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 5.

2022 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle registration 

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle, one of Chicago’s favorite annual traditions and the official kick off to the running season, is a continuation of the city’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. On Sunday, March 20, 2022, the race will treat runners to a one-of-a-kind 8K (4.97-mile) run through Chicago’s Loop. Fitness enthusiasts looking to tackle shorter distances are encouraged to join The Mile event on Saturday, March 19, or the 2 Mile Walk on Sunday. All three events will start and finish in Chicago’s Grant Park.
