• Shamrock Run is a community tradition that offers something for everyone

• Oregon’s largest running event returns for 46th edition on Sunday, March 17, 2024

Portland, Oregon – October 31, 2023 – Portland’s popular Shamrock Run today announced a new and expanded partnership with Toyota as the presenting sponsor and official automotive partner for the 2024 event.

Known for its vibrant finish line festival and serving as the kickoff to the spring running season, the Shamrock Run Portland presented by Toyota will take place on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2024 at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park. As part of the sponsorship, one lucky winner will drive home in a brand-new 2024 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road.

“Toyota is proud to join forces with the Shamrock Run, an annual event that embodies the spirit of community, health, and celebration,” said Russ Humberston, president of the Pacific Northwest Toyota Dealers Association. “The partnership between Toyota and the Shamrock Run Portland is not just a sponsorship but a shared commitment to creating a memorable, impactful and festive St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in the community. The opportunity to win a new 2024 Toyota RAV4 vehicle adds an extra layer of excitement to this iconic event.”

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Toyota as our presenting sponsor and official automotive partner for the 46th annual Shamrock Run,” said Phyllis Blanchard, Head of Partnerships for the event. “We invite participants, families, and supporters to join us on March 17, 2024, for an unforgettable celebration of health, community, and the chance to drive away in a brand-new 2024 Toyota RAV4. Let the countdown to St. Patrick’s Day begin!”

Beyond the excitement of the race and the opportunity to win a new Toyota vehicle, the race will continue its longstanding tradition of supporting the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. For 26 years, the event has dedicated itself to improving the lives of children through its affiliation with the hospital. With Toyota’s support, this noble cause receives an even greater platform, enabling more generous contributions to benefit the children and families in need.

Highlighting a day filled with six different race distances, the 2024 event will feature the return of the “Shamrock Showdown” 8K. The competitive race features local elite and sub-elite runners, offering an exciting competitive platform with prize money for the top three men’s and women’s finishers. The “Shamrock Showdown” 8K adds an extra layer of competition and prestige to an already iconic event, attracting top talent from around the region.

Race weekend kicks off with the Shamrock Run Fitness Fair at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, where participants can pick up their race number. The free event is open to the public and features dozens of brands and exhibitors offering a variety of health and wellness products.

Race day begins with the 5K at 8:00 a.m. PT on Sunday, March 17, at the Portland Waterfront Park, the first of six events taking place throughout the day. The Shamrock Showdown 8K is set to begin at 10:10 a.m. and welcomes some of the fastest runners in Portland.
