(TRAVERSE CITY, MI – January 15, 2024) –Traverse City Track Club is thrilled to announce it is now accepting applications for its 2024-25 academic year scholarship program to recognize and reward runners who embody a commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics. Graduating high school seniors, or college students from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau counties seeking higher education who are involved in running and/or running related activities are welcome to apply. Selected Traverse City Track Club scholarship recipients can receive between $500 to $2,500 to pursue higher education at colleges and universities, ranging from community college to graduate school.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the Track Club’s mission: “The Traverse City Track Club promotes and encourages health, fitness, fellowship, community service, family recreation and competition via running and walking. We welcome all ages and abilities.”

“The Traverse City Track Club believes in the transformative power of running. Through our scholarship program, we aim to recognize and support the dedicated runners in our region who embody the spirit of our community. Our scholarship initiative wouldn’t be possible without the community support of our events, especially the Bayshore Marathon, which enable us to not only play a key role in the growth of an active community, but also give back through our scholarship program,” said Janice Beyer, President of the Track Club. “We are excited to invest in the future of these young athletes, and we aim to empower dedicated runners to pursue their academic and athletic aspirations.”

The application window for the scholarships will be open from January 15 until March
