(TRAVERSE CITY, MI – September 3, 2025) – The Traverse City Track Club (TCTC) was founded in 1962 and has grown to become one of the largest running clubs in Michigan. TCTC welcomes runners and walkers. Since launching in 2007, the TCTC Charitable Giving Program has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships and grants. The Traverse City Track Club (TCTC) has announced the recipients of its 2025–2026 scholarships, awarding a total of $24,000 to support local students pursuing higher education. TCTC scholarships recognize and reward runners who embody a commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
The scholarships are part of TCTC’s mission to encourage and support running and walking as a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages and abilities. Since its founding, the program has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in assistance to area students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and a passion for health and fitness.
“Our scholarship program is one of the most meaningful ways we give back to the community,” said Executive Director Lindsay McLaughlin. “We’re proud to support these students as they continue their education and carry forward the values of perseverance, wellness, and community service locally, statewide and nationwide.”
This year’s recipients are:

• Leah Durfee, Kalkaska County – Northwestern Michigan College
• Jacqueline Hearne, Leelanau County – Hillsdale College
• Anatasiia Hrukach, Grand Traverse County – Western Michigan College
• Kate May, Benzie County – Hope College
• Avery McLean, Grand Traverse County – Michigan State University
• Madylin McLean, Grand Traverse County – University of Michigan
• Makenna Scott, Benzie County – Oakland University
• Tara Townsend, Benzie County – Hillsdale College

For over 60 years, the Traverse City Track Club has been promoting fitness, friendship, and community engagement through events like the Bayshore Marathon and numerous other local races, while giving back through youth programs, grants, and scholarships.
