Endurance sports PR firm earns PROTOS Award and Awards of Excellence for their work with running events across U.S.
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Treat Public Relations, the endurance sports industry’s premier public relations partner, added five more trophies to their collection at the Public Relations Society of America Orange County chapter’s annual PROTOS Awards on Thursday night. Treat PR took home one PROTOS Award and four Awards of Excellence.
“Our team continues to distinguish ourselves as media relations experts – not just within the endurance sports space, but also within the public relations practice at large,” said Meg Treat, APR, owner and CEO of Treat Public Relations. “Each of these awards resulted from our work with journalists and reporters across the country, securing stories that highlight why running is a transformative sport for all who participate in it. Our clients change people’s lives with every start and finish line they create, and we’re proud to play a small role in brining the magic of race day to life.”
In the Article for Consumer Publication – Pitched category, Treat PR was awarded the PROTOS, which is given to the highest-scoring entry in a category, for coverage they secured for Dave McGillivray and the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation in Outside Magazine. The article spotlighted McGillivray running in the Boston Marathon during the day alongside the other 30,000 participants, a novel occurrence after completing the race at night after finishing his race day duties for the past 37 years. It also highlighted his fundraising efforts during his training and racing for his charitable foundation.
Treat PR also took home an Award of Excellence, which honors other entries with high scores, in the Article for Consumer Publication – Pitched category. Their entry highlighted LGBTQ+ participation at the Orlando Magic 5K, which raised awareness of the event’s community outreach efforts and the diversity amongst its field of participants.
Treat PR earned two Awards of Excellence in Article for Trade Publication – Written category. The agency assisted In Motion Events and Spectrum Sports with penning thought leadership articles in key publications that reached target audiences for their respective brands.
Finally, an Award of Excellence was given to Treat PR in the Best Single Media Placement – Print or Broadcast category for coverage that PR Manager Anna Gimre pitched to and secured in the Orange Country Register for Run Catalina Island. The article not only highlighted the client and their sustainability practices but was included on the front page alongside news surrounding the State of the Union, which took place the day before and was expected to dominate all national and regional news. The article was syndicated to all 10 partner Southern Californian newspapers owned by the same newsgroup that owns the Orange County Register.
The firm adds these trophies to both a PROTOS and an Award of Excellence earned at last year’s ceremony.
