BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Marathon presented by MDU Resources, North Dakota’s longest-running marathon, continues to establish itself as a top-tier destination for serious runners and community impact. As one of only USATF-certified courses in North Dakota that serves as an official Boston Marathon Qualifier, the event has become a cornerstone for athletes seeking personal bests and a gateway to the world’s most prestigious road races.
The Bismarck Marathon features a fast, flat, and fully paved course that parallels the breathtaking scenery of the Missouri River. With its USATF certification and its designation as an AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings marathon, the race consistently delivers high performance. In 2025, approximately 8.3% of the field achieved Boston Qualifying times, ranking it among the most efficient qualifying courses in the region.
Beyond the speed of the course, the event remains deeply rooted in its mission of philanthropy. Last year alone, the Bismarck Marathon gave back over $35,000 to local charities, contributing to a monumental total of more than $700,000 donated since 2007.
