To the Running USA Community:

I write to you today with mixed emotions. I will be departing Running USA within the coming weeks, for a position with USA Track & Field where I will serve as the Chief Communications and Content Officer. My friend and Running USA’s Board President Kathleen Titus has been named Interim Executive Director.

During my time at Running USA, the organization has seen tremendous growth. While the number of members, sponsors, partners and conference attenders has indeed increased, what I am most proud of is this team’s intense focus on the mission of educating, engaging and elevating the running industry.

Since 2023, Running USA has launched a strategic plan that included new, focused mission and vision statements; introduced a new membership structure featuring expanded tiers and enhanced benefits; created new research partnerships, and forged strategic international alliances – all in the interest in reaching as many industry professionals as possible and delivering opportunities to help them grow.

Running USA has the momentum it has at this moment because of its staff and Board of Directors. Consisting of passionate leaders from across the country, they bring unique perspectives and voices to the table, but the goals and vision are unified. I have learned so much from them all. From St. Louis in February and beyond, the future of Running USA is not something I plan to witness from afar. Following my departure from the staff, I will assist in the national search for and the transition to a new Executive Director.

I have always seen Running USA as a facilitator of conversations and relationships. Being part of a team that does this every day has brought me great joy personally and professionally.  It has allowed me the opportunity to develop new friendships while deepening existing ones. There is nothing more fulfilling than connecting good people – and that’s what the running industry is. Good people. Great people.

Happy Running,

Jay
